Preparations for inauguration security have been made and investigations into demonstration continue.
The Capitol Police Department announced on Friday that Yogananda Pittman had been appointed as the acting Chief of the Department following the resignation of Steven Sund. Mr. Sund resigned after the Capitol was infiltrated last week and incidents of violence occurred during the counting of Electoral College votes.
Acting Chief Pittman stated this week, “The Department is fully engaged with our law enforcement partners throughout the National Capital Region on the Federal, state, and local levels. We have comprehensive, coordinated plans in place to ensure the safety and security of the Congressional community and the upcoming Presidential Inauguration. There will be no public access to the Capitol Grounds during the Inauguration.”
The acting chief also said that investigations into the events of January 6th are ongoing and those who destroyed property will be fully prosecuted. As violations of the Capitol Police Department regulations and policies have been discovered, some members of the department have been suspended pending disciplinary action.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For the Lord to guide Acting Chief Pittman as she leads the department.
- That God would protect the Capitol from any further unrest or destruction.
- For God to bring truth and order out of the law enforcement investigations.
